Wolf Trap is proud to present the U.S. premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, a multimedia spectacular featuring the sweeping cinematography and stirring dialogue of Peter Jackson?s epic movie combined with a live performance of Howard Shore?s award-winning orchestral score. Enjoy this Oscar-winning movie in high definition on large screens in-house and on the lawn, and let the Filene Center Orchestra, the City Choir of Washington, and the World Children?s Choir bring Middle Earth to life.
Here is a link to Wolf Trap's page about the event

Tickets are apparently still available. Here are the prices:

$25 - Lawn, $45 Loge, $55 all others

The concert and showing start at 8:30, so I figure getting there at 7:30 should give us time to get seats etc.

A number of people have suggested we meet before the concert, and I think that's a great idea. Let's meet on the lawn and have a picnic. I would suggest we meet about 5:00 to 5:30 so we have time to eat and visit, however you are welcome to come at any time before the concert starts. Bring picnic food, drinks, blankets, etc.

I'll be late too (after 6 probably), but I'm taking down your cell and will call when I get there. If anyone needs mine it's 301-792-0107

Saw it last night. The sound of the music is incredible. Remember you are there to hear the music, not so much to hear the actors. The 7:30 PM talk should not to be missed. I may yet come again.

Several people have suggested lawn picnic, so everybody bring some blankets, and some picnic food.

lawn picnic would be best for me--I hope it doesn't rain! I should be able to get there about 5:30. And I guess I'll need a ride to the metro after the show!

I vote for the lawn. I want to see the pre-concert lecture. I'm a school teacher and I still think getting out there at 5 will be too early. Brian - can you e-mail the group whatever oyu decide? I don't think people are checking this forum

I have two ideas. One, we meet about 5:00 at Anita's 521 E. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA 22180 .Anita's is a Tex-Mex restaurant that is highly rated, inexpensive, and pretty close to wolf trap. or two, we meet on the lawn and have a picnic. Let me know which you all would rather do. If you want to call me, feel free to call me on my cell phone and let me know. Either way, I would suggest we meet about 5:00

I just noticed that there is no Metro shuttle for these performances because they get out so late. I'll be driving from Arlington. Any Arlington/eastern Falls Church residents need a ride?

I agree that it would be cool to meet beforehand. Any suggestions?

Guys, I thought an official thing had been sent out, but I get confused. It's every man for himself... less complicated and people were divided on lawn vs. loge. Hopefully we meet up beforehand, more details to come. I think several people will be on the lawn, so we'll have to get you together. There are at least 5 people who happened to get Row Q in Front Center orchestra, so try to sit near us if you can! Those are the priciest seats though.

Sammie, I think we've decided on Thursday now.

Are we still waiting to get the 20 people together, or should we go ahead and get our seats individually now?

I'd prefer the orchestra or box, but loge would be OK. People can be horribly noisy and even blab on cell phones on the lawn seats, I found when I sat their last year, so it's not even worth it for the lower cost. Plus if it rains, you're out of luck there. I don't know though if you get an orchestra and box seat if you're assigned a specific seat or can sit anywhere in that area--does anyone know?

Have we decided which day? I agree with Isabel that would prefer seats, but will go along with whatever the group decides. We could always pre-order food from Wolf Trap (its pretty good, wasnt too spendy last time I got it) and meet there to eat before the show. Let me know, I dont want to miss getting my ticket!

The lawn would be fun, but for this one, I'd rather have a good seat. I like Lars' suggestion that we meet up beforehand for dinner or something (maybe on the grounds?) and then just go to our seats. Certainly the lawn folk can start there own little Shire and maybe we can come visit?

lawn tickets would be fine with me; that would make it easier to sit together as well.

Who attended?

    •  Loved the performance, and the pre-event talk was terrific. Just wish you could see the orchestra and choir better. I know the movie so well that I was really interested in seeing the musicians and singers do their thing. Also, I was a bit surprised at how empty the pavilion was (you mean not everyone loves the films as much as we do??). I hope it doesn't discourage them from doing the same with the other two films.
    •  The minute I sat down and the orchestra started I knew it was worth it. It was amazing.
    •  Wonderful meetup- picnic and getting to know LotR fans and then seeing the movie with a live score. The music was gorgeous and the experience most magical.
